Carmen Faye Mathes is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at McGill University, specializing in eighteenth‑ and nineteenth‑century British and transatlantic literature. Her research centers on poetry and poetics, Romantic-era aesthetics, affect theory, and the history of emotion and medicine. She earned her Ph.D. from UBC and holds an M.A. from the University of Toronto and a B.A. from the University of Calgary. Mathes is the author of Poetic Form and Romantic Provocation (Stanford University Press, 2022) and has published articles in Critical Inquiry, Representations, Studies in Romanticism, and European Romantic Review. As Book Reviews Editor for Prose Studies, she fosters scholarly dialogue and supports emerging voices.
