Anne C. McCarthy currently works as a writer, editor, and fact-checker in St. Louis, Missouri. McCarthy was an Assistant Professor of English at Pennsylvania State University, where she taught Romantic and Victorian literature from 2012-2019. She earned her Ph.D. in English from the Graduate Center, CUNY, in 2012 with a dissertation on nineteenth-century poetic suspension. McCarthy is the author of Awful Parenthesis: Suspension and the Sublime in Romantic and Victorian Poetry (University of Toronto Press, 2018) and co-editor of Romanticism and Speculative Realism (Bloomsbury, 2019). Her scholarly work appears in journals including PMLA, Studies in Romanticism, and Victorian Poetry, and she is a founder of the Keats Letters Project.
