London - Other Sites

Like the Shelley residences, other sites of interest in London have for the most part fallen victim to urban renewal. Skinner Street still exists, although the Godwin address at number 4 has disappeared. One can guess at the general location, however, and enough period buildings remain in the vicinity to give a sense of the architecture of the place.
The Serpentine, where Shelley's first wife, the unhappy Harriet Shelley, drowned herself, is still a public park.
Her body was thought to have washed downstream to the lower reaches.
The site of Saint Mildred’s Church, where Mary and Shelley wed shortly after Harriet’s death, is now occupied by an office building.
