1795.22
On the Five Kings of France
Anon
The Tomahawk (November 19, 1795)

In human BLOOD, the Nation laid,
FIVE Kings,[1] at length, the French have made,
    To put MONARCHY down;
Yet with regal power array'd,
Sure none will say, however weigh'd,
    They're worth e'en half a Crown!

Notes

1. France was governed by a five-member Directory from October, 1795 to November, 1799.
