679. Robert Southey to Charles Danvers, 24 May [1802]

679. Robert Southey to Charles Danvers, 24 May [1802] *

Monday 24 May.

My dear Danvers

Our places are taken in the one pound three-night coach for tomorrow. at four in the afternoon we get in at our own door – and I should hope that before three o clock on Wednesday a Bristol Hackney Coach may set us down at yours. We are heartily rejoiced at leaving London – tho I leave books enough & friends enough to regret.

I have enquired about Kings instruments they cost 2.18–0 – but the maker had none made, nor could he make any in time for my departure. I did not venture to order them as that may at any time be done by letter.

We were foolish and faulty in not recollecting to send the cushion by Martha [1]  – this fine weather makes us remember it. Our love to Mrs D

God bless you –

Yrs affectionately

Robert Southey

Will you let them know in Stokes Croft that Mrs Lovell is coming.
