587. Robert Southey to Charles Danvers, 6 July [1801] ⁠* 

Dear Danvers

Thank God we are safe on shore. a thirteen days passage & all variety of weather. tomorrow as soon as we can pass our trunks thro the Custom House we set off – & may perhaps reach Bristol on Thursday night – if – as we ought – we can make it but one days journey from Exeter. –

I have no time to write more – tired with the Custom house & somewhat surly at its heavy extortions I am glad to see supper ready & bed time at hand. our love to Mrs D. I hope we shall see her well.
