1421. Robert Southey to Mary Barker, 9 February 1808 *
A girl who looks as if she were of the race of the Giants [1] made her appearance ten minutes after five this afternoon.
In about three days we start, one to Lloyds 4. one to Kendal 5. one to Leeds 6. one to Halifax to see for Waterhouse [2] 7. one to Sheffield 8 – the Peck – Chatsworth – Matlock – why Senhora it will be a fortnight before we can reach you. And it seems by the map as if the stages from Derby must go to Litchfield instead of Penkridge, which will be paying the wrong visit first [3] – however you shall hear from Derby about this – All doing well thank God –
