2419. Robert Southey to John Rickman, 9 May 1814

2419. Robert Southey to John Rickman, 9 May 1814 *
My dear R.
I trouble you with two inclosures, – one for the Twopenny, – the other (which is doubled xxxx into letter-form) for the Exchequer.
The death of Danvers will cast a gloom over the recollections of half my life. [1] – The loss of such a man is like an amputation – the wound heals, – but the limb will always be wanting.
Remember me to Mrs R. &
God bless you
RS.
