My dear Sir
I thank you for what you have done in an affair of more importance to me than it will appear to the public. [1] By vesting the income of the Laureateship in a life insurance, it will give my family three thousand pounds at my death. Thus you have indeed conferred upon me a signal benefit, – for to you it is that I am primarily & chiefly indebted.
On Thursday in the next week I shall have great pleasure in accepting your invitation
