1945. Robert Southey to John Theodor Koster, 23 August 1811

1945. Robert Southey to John Theodor Koster, 23 August 1811 *
Teddesley Park. Aug. 23. 1811.
My dear Sir
Thus far Mrs Southey & I have advanced on our homeward journey, after a circuit of six hundred miles. We go from hence tomorrow into Montgomeryshire, – & if it be convenient to you to receive us we shall have great pleasure in passing a couple of days with you the latter end of next week. Let me know this by a line under cover to CWWilliams Wynn, Llangedwin, Oswestry. Tomorrow night we expect to reach his house & purpose leaving it for Liverpool on Wednesday or Thursday next.
I have been nearly eleven weeks from home, & am heartily weary of travelling & still more so of idleness. My journey has not however been useless, for I have succeeded in getting my brother made Commander, at last. [1] – Remember us to Mrs Koster & your daughters, [2] & believe me my dear Sir
Yours very truly
Robert Southey

When you write, have the goodness to mention your direction, – which I do not remember distinctly enough for use, when we shall land on the North side of the Mersey. [3]
