2978. Robert Southey to John Rickman, [19 April 1817]

2978. Robert Southey to John Rickman, [19 April 1817] *

My dear R.

Since I reached Warcop I have had reason to fear that my further progress would be st prevented, – for I have been seized with an inflammation in the bowels – I hope it is now gone off.

I am unluckily engaged on Saturday the 26, – & precisely because it is not a Parliament day: – Harry Inglis having written some weeks ago to fix that day for meeting Lord Sidmouth [1]  & Wilberforce at his house. Shall I come to you on Sunday? – for on the Saturday following I expect to be over the seas & far away.

Poor Sharon is obliged to give up all evening company from an asthmatic complaint, which excitement after dinner never fails to bring on.

In haste to save the post.

God bless you

RS.

Saturday morning
