In the following two passages, Winzy evokes both Walton and the Creature in Frankenstein:

...an expedition, which mortal frame can never survive, even endued with the youth and strength that inhabits mine. Thus I shall put my immortality to the test, and rest for ever--or return, the wonder and benefactor of the human species.

...if I survive, my name shall be recorded as one of the most famous among the sons of men.

In referring to a successful exploration of the north pole, Winzy echoes Walton's desire for fame with his own expedition. Furthermore, Winzy aims to end his life in a way similar to the Creature, in the "most northern extremity of the globe" [Frankenstein 155].
